Waipoua Lodge, Waipoua Forest
Situated on the Kauri Coast on the northernmost boundary of the Waipoua Forest, Waipoua Lodge offers luxury accommodation in a historic setting. Built from kauri timber 120 years ago, the sensitively restored lodge is owned and hosted by New Zealanders and features many mementoes from the era when kauri milling was at its pinnacle. Separate to the main lodge which houses the guest lounge, dining room and sunroom with library and bar, there are four, self-contained apartments uniquely decorated with comfortable furnishings. Situated amongst four acres of beautiful, landscaped gardens, the apartments and main lodge enjoy panoramic views over the majestic Waipoua Forest as far as the eye can see. The beauty of the property’s location is its proximity to such local, natural wonders as the clear, fresh water Kai Iwi Lakes, Trounson Kauri Park and endless, sandy beaches; in fact, you may be the only people on the beach!
